First, and foremost, sorry we've been gone so long! We moved into our new house on Monday, but then didn't have any computer or phone connectivity until late Wednesday. We're almost done packing, just some boxes in the bedrooms and the pictures to hang on the walls. I'll post some pictures fairly soon of our new abode.
Last weekend we went to
Burg Hohenzollern (Burg is German for Castle). As you can see, it's on the top of a huge hill (850 m. tall) and overlooks the entire area. From there you can see Stuttgart, even though it's a 45 minute drive away. From the parking area you walk up a steep path to the castle - you can see Kaylee at the top of the steps if you look real hard. There was a

shuttle bus that ran, but we didn't feel like paying the extra money when it was just a couple hundred meters away (about 1/3 mile). We should have realized it was straight up! It was really cool, quite a great castle to start out our castle experiences with. We then walked around the grounds and got to tour the inside. Unfortunately the only way into the castle was part of a guided tour, which was in German, so we looked around and looked at each other 'cause none of us understood a word of what the guide was saying! Plus you had to put these huge slippers on, to keep peoples street shoes from scuffing the floors, so you end up shuffling your feet since if you walk normal and pick up your feet

you'll lose the slippers! It's kind of comedic. The coolest part of the castle was that the entrance consisted of three huge spiraled drives that circled under each other so that even a carriage - or a car nowadays - could make the entrance, rising 75 ft. in just three loops.
These three pictures are: 1) us driving to the castle; 2) hiking up to the castle; and 3) standing on the castle ramparts looking out over the countryside. I've also put a picture in with the pictures in the right hand bar of us having coffee, or in the girls case, ice cream, on the castle grounds.
Driving to the castle we were all amazed to see this CASTLE in the distance. We all just looked at each other and thought "We're not in Kansas anymore, ToTo". On the drive back we took the Autobahn. As Brad was driving 120 mph we looked at each other and I said to him "It feels weird to be driving so fast and actually not be breaking any laws". Granted we didn't stay at that speed for long - come on, everyone has to admit 120 mph is just too fast! Now 100 mph, that's completely reasonable, isn't it?
